Niokoloko Ba – 7 Days 6 Nights

Day 1

From the hotels, drive to Banjul to cross the ferry on the River Gambia to the North bank to Barra with a stop at the Fort Bullen historical sight. From there driving continues to Kerewan then to Farafenni where a stop is made for lunch. On the way some stops are made to see nature and possibly some animals such as Bush Pigs and Monkeys. From Farafenni driving continues on the North bank of the River Gambia to Wassu where another stop is made to visit the Stone Circles, these stones said to be known as the old burial places of kings and are known to be more than 1200 years old. After visiting the stones, driving continues to Janjangburreh camp or similar for a night stop at the camp with dinner and African Folklore Entertainment. This camp is built in a typical Gambian Hut style and is very basic with toilet and shower in every room. There is no electricity therefore a night gives a beautiful sound of Africa.

Day 2

After breakfast, we start to Karantaba where we can visit the Historical Monument of Mungo Park the Scottish Explorer who came to discover the source of the River Niger around the year 1795. Then there we join the pirogue which will cruise for about 6-7 hours on the River Gambia, with lunch served on board to Basse. The River Gambia here becomes very interesting. Arrival at Basse, dinner and overnight at Fulladu Camp which is situated at the Riverside.

Day 3

After an early breakfast at the camp, we cross the river to join the bus to start driving to Senegal. We drive through Basse Town which is the major trading centre for the upper reaches of the River Gambia. Handsome trading houses built at the turn of the century can be seen. From Basse, our driving continues to Villingara then to Tambacounda. Stop for lunch at Tambacounda, then continue to Sementi where we will stay for the night. Dinner and overnight at the Sementi Hotel.

Day 4

After breakfast, we start for the safari in the National Park of Niokoloko Ba. At the park a lot of animals can be seen. We will spend the whole morning in the park, and then return for lunch at the Sementi Hotel. In the afternoon, visit the surrounding villages, and then return in the evening to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Early breakfast in the morning, then start driving back to The Gambia, to Basse. Arrive at Fulladu Camp for lunch. Afternoon relax by the swimming pool, and in the early evening at around 17.30 hrs, take a walk around the camp for some bird watching. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Depart from Falladu Camp to drive to Tendaba Camp. Stop on the way at Soma to visit the market area and have some refreshments. At the market we could see the small traders doing their day to day business on small scales together with butchers, vegetable sellers, etc. Then driving continues to Tendaba Camp. Arrive at the camp for lunch, and then afternoon relax by the pool till around 17.00 hrs when a boat trip starts in the creeks for approx. two hours. A lot of bird life could be seen on the creeks and with little possibilities of seeing crocodiles. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight with African Folklore entertainment.

Niokoloko Ba – 7 Days 6 Nights

Day 1
